‘3Moorthilu’: Young Filmmaker Sharan Raj Kasaragod Attempts To Bring A Fresh New-Generation Identity To Coastalwood
Emerging Tulu filmmaker Sharan Raj Kasaragod brings fresh energy to Coastalwood with his directorial debut ‘3Moorthilu’, a multilingual comedy-drama aiming to redefine new-generation Tulu cinema.
Young filmmaker Sharan Raj Kasaragod is attempting to bring a fresh new-generation identity to Tulu cinema through his upcoming Tulu feature film “3Moorthilu”, which is also being dubbed in Kannada for a wider audience reach.
At a time when regional cinema across India is expanding beyond boundaries, Sharan Raj believes Tulu cinema too deserves wider recognition and stronger presentation. Popularly referred to by many as “Coastalwood”, the Tulu film industry has long been known for its rooted culture, humor, and loyal audience base. Through “3Moorthilu”, the young filmmaker aims to blend that regional soul with a modern cinematic and digital approach.
“3Moorthilu” is a youthful comedy-drama entertainer built around friendship, emotion, campus life, suspense, and the vibrant energy of Tulunad. The project marks the directorial debut of Sharan Raj Kasaragod under the banner of Souparnika Pictures.
One of the major highlights of the film is the introduction of more than 20 newcomers across acting and technical departments, creating a platform for fresh talent from the coastal region. At the same time, the film also features several renowned and audience-favorite artists including Aravind Bolar, Bhojaraj Vamanjoor, Ravi Ramakunja, Sadashiva Amin, Namitha Kiran, Rakshan Madoor, Druthi Sai, Nithin Thumbe, Sharan Mimicry, Harish Bangera, and many more.
The screenplay and dialogues are written by acclaimed filmmaker Ismail Moodushedde, while music is composed by Shammer Mudippu in his first Tulu-language project after collaborating with several notable artists. Lyrics are penned by Yogish A N, with choreography planned by Sudhir Ullal.

Apart from the film itself, “3Moorthilu” is also gaining attention for adopting a modern digital-first promotional strategy rarely explored at this scale in the Tulu film space. The team has already established early visibility through IMDb updates, BookMyShow “Coming Soon” listings, and active social media engagement even before the film’s release.
Currently, the team is working on the remaining song shoot while continuing promotions across Dakshina Kannada and Karnataka.
With a combination of young energy, regional pride, fresh talent, and modern cinematic ambition, Sharan Raj Kasaragod hopes “3Moorthilu” becomes a positive step forward in giving wider exposure and a stronger identity to Tulu cinema while also connecting with Kannada audiences through its dubbed release.
